The oyster farming

Our company is located on the Island of Oleron in the Charente-Maritime Department in the heart of the most consequent oyster center in France, Marennes Oleron.
Our company sales oysters in France and abroad.

The company GABORIAU has a lot, of oyster fields located between Island of Oleron, Island of Ré and the continent but also in the estuary of Gironde.

The family GABORIAU is present on this sector since a lot of times and has the field situated in the most interesting places, in order to produce an oyster with a superior quality.

Catchment of the spat

 the catchment of the seeds takes place in different places like Island of Aix, and in Gironde…For the catchment we use CUPS that we place in different strategic places in order to collect a maximum number of seeds. The company has more than 1.5 million of CUBS per year and collect more than 75 million of seeds.

The farming

One time after the collect of oysters, they are placed on POUCH that re placed on the sea, in the fields that the company has, in strategic places for the development of the oysters. During its development, the oysters are handling more than fifteen times during a period of 4 years to produce the best oyster possible. Because of its fields, the company can produce these best oysters.

The refining

 the refinement of the oyster GABORIAU takes place in «claires», that is the old salt marsh. Our company has more than 20 hectares. The refinement in this «claires» is situated on the island of Oleron and allow for the oyster GABORIAU to have this special taste and texture that are really desired by all the kind of customers.
